Subaru to drive Rally Tasmania into the Wilderness

Subaru Australia is proud to announce its naming rights partnership of the 2026 Rally Tasmania, with the event officially renamed the Subaru Wilderness Rally Tasmania.

Taking place in August as the fourth round of the 2026 EROAD Australian Rally Championship (ARC), the Subaru Wilderness Rally Tasmania will once again bring the country’s best rally drivers to the picturesque beachside town of Burnie.

The partnership celebrates the arrival of the all-new Subaru Outback Wilderness to Australia – the most rugged and adventure-focused iteration of the iconic Subaru Outback range – while reinforcing Subaru’s long-standing connection with rallying and Tasmania’s unique gravel roads.

Subaru has a proud history in Australian rallying, having competed at the highest level of the sport for decades and continuing its support today through the Subaru WRX Challenge class. The 2026 sponsorship also marks Subaru’s return as naming rights partner of the Tasmanian ARC round, having previously supported the event in 2018 and 2019.

Subaru Wilderness Rally Tasmania Event Manager Adrian Coppin welcomed Subaru Australia’s return to the event.

"Subaru has been a great supporter of the ARC's presence in Tasmania over the years and their returning support as naming rights partner of the event is warmly welcomed," Coppin said.

"The brand is synonymous with rallying in the state, so it's hugely fitting that they're back as a major part of Tasmania's biggest annual gravel rally event.

Subaru Australia Managing Director Blair Read said the partnership was a natural fit for the brand.

"Tasmania, rallying and Subaru are made for each other, making this the perfect location to showcase the all-new Subaru Outback Wilderness. We really like the direction Rally Tasmania is heading in and adding the Subaru Wilderness name really reflects the adventure and challenge offered from this great event," Read said.

The 2026 Subaru Wilderness Rally Tasmania takes place throughout the forests surrounding Burnie, Tasmania, from 14-16 August 2026.

The all-new Subaru Outback Wilderness is engineered for tougher terrain and bigger adventures, combining Subaru’s renowned Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive with a 2.4-litre turbocharged Boxer engine and Dual-Mode X-Mode for confident capability across gravel, mud and snow.
